The Role:

What are we looking for?

An exciting Programme Manager role is now available within our growing team of industry-focused professionals in the Apprenticeships Unit at Manchester Metropolitan University.


The role will have overall responsibility for supporting the development and delivery of our Leadership and Management Degree Apprenticeship programmes, including:

  • Charter Manager with pathways in: Health and Social Care (including the NHS Mary Seacole Award).

  • Retail

  • Retail Leadership

  • Senior Leader

  • Senior People Professional

  • Senior Leader Master's Degree Apprenticeship


You will lead a fast growing, highly motivated, proactive team engaging with a wide range of employers, apprentices, and academic colleagues from across different faculties.


The position will have end-to-end management of the apprentice journey, from awareness and application stage to graduation and alumni. Relationship management and organisation will therefore be critical, with additional direct line management responsibility for our talented team of Skills Coaches.


The role is dynamic and proactive, not only championing collaboration across the University, but also working closely with commercial and public sector employer partners to ensure we continue to deliver high-quality and industry relevant undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications.


Typically, you will:

  • Collaborate with academic Programme Leaders and the wider apprenticeships teams to deliver high-quality and high-performance programmes in line with the University's strategic aims, and to ensure close alignment between delivery of the academic programme and the development and evidencing of knowledge, skills, and behaviours in the workplace.

  • Provide effective line management to the team of Skills Coaches working in leadership and management and monitoring of apprentice progress, to maintain our outstanding OFSTED inspection grade achieved in October 2022 and ensuring ESFA compliance.

  • Plan for high quality delivery of apprenticeships through to End Point Assessment, including required resources.


What are we looking for?

  • The ability to communicate complex issues, develop relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients and act as a representative of the University.

  • Proven track record in developing and managing projects and/or programmes in a Higher or Further Education context, monitoring progress and ensuring delivery to deadlines.

  • Experience of successful management of teams to achieve goals.

  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to evaluate and interpret complex sets of information, drawing conclusions and recommending practical solutions.
